Self-Care: Tips to Avoid Burnout

Running your own business is exciting right? You put your time, spare time & all your energy into growing your business, putting it out there and making sure that your product or service(s) are the best they can be. Then when you see your clients/customers really happy with the product/service you produce, that feeling is so satisfying!

However running your own business comes with it’s challenges and self-care can fall by the wayside. Forgetting to look after yourself in the midst of running your biz can lead to burnout. So here are my tips for making sure you get your self-care practice back on track:

✨ Get to know yourself and how you work best

✨ Make a weekly plan - buy out the time to set yourself a to-do list for the week ahead and what goals you want to achieve

✨ Keep yourself nourished and hydrated - and no, a biscuit and espresso doesn’t count as lunch!

✨ Have a logging-off time - working until the wee hours may seem like a great plan at the time, but it has an impact on your physical and mental well being, which in turn affects your work. Make time for relaxing!

✨ Know when to say no - when running your own business, you are responsible for your own workload, but this means knowing your worth and not feeling the need to say yes to every job that comes your way. Having too many commitments can lead to being overwhelmed.

✨ Know when to ask for help - sometimes all that is needed is to reach out and ask for support from your business community, a virtual assistant or a friend.

Ultimately, self-care is not a luxury, it’s a necessity.
